Plate bending is a fabrication process used to produce a V-shape, U-shape, or channel shape over a straight axis in ductile materials. In order to bend the most common metal—sheet metal—it is placed between two tools, and the plate is pressed into the die by lowering the upper tool in a controlled manner.
